Morgan Lewis recently sponsored the 11th Annual International Arbitration conference held by ICC Russia, at which firm partners presented on a range of topical issues. ICC Russia aims to promote international commercial arbitration in Russia and CIS countries. Dmitry Ivanov discussed some of the advantages of the ICC International Court of Arbitration rules, emphasizing the expectations and goals of Russian organizations. Grigory Marinichev presented on the shift to Asia for international arbitration disputes and the potential reasons for the change. The conference brought together members of the legal and business community including experts in international commercial arbitration, corporate counsel, arbitrators and mediators, state authorities, and academics to offer insight into the current international arbitration environment and factors influencing its development. In the same week, Morgan Lewis also hosted a meeting with members of the ICC Russia International Arbitration Commission. Among the attendees were Alexander Fessas, Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration and Abhinav Bhushan, Director of IСС Arbitration and ADR, South Asia. The meeting included an insightful discussion on ICC’s work in various regions and recent developments in Russia, such as those relating to anticorruption.
